SUNDAY SCHOOL MISSION PROJECTS
Mission education has been a vital part of the Christian education program of churches around the world. It is no different here at the LeRoy United Methodist Church! Our church takes part in special offerings, the adults and teens do special mission projects and go on mission trips. Our entire church does mission work within our community through our Faith In Action program. Recently our children's Sunday School classes have began putting a special emphasis on mission projects.
Clean Water and Wells for Liberia
Our new Mission Project will be raising money to dig wells in Liberia and develop a system in which they can have clean water. We take water for granted in the USA: we get clean water out of the faucet or we buy it in a bottle. We can even buy flavored water and "healthy water"! But, so many people in our world, including Liberia (western Africa), do not have access to clean water. The water that they do get, they have to carry for a long distance and it can even make them sick because it is not clean.
We would like all of our Sunday School children to pick up a water bottle from their classroom and collect loose change. Bring it to church each Sunday and dump it into the wishing well in the basement hallway. Check out the mission project display and bulletin board while you are there!
Together we can make a difference!
