SUNDAY SCHOOL MISSION PROJECTS
Mission education has been a vital part of the Christian education program of churches around the world. It is no different here at the LeRoy United Methodist Church! Our church takes part in special offerings, the adults and teens do special mission projects and go on mission trips. Our entire church does mission work within our community through our Faith In Action program. Recently our children's Sunday School classes have began putting a special emphasis on mission projects.
The HAITI CONNECTION is our current mission project. It is a ministry of the Newman Center on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. LeRoy graduate and LeRoy UMC member is very involved with this ministry and traveled to Haiti during the summer of 2010 in support of their ongoing projects. We will be collecting money throughout the Fall to support various projects. The Haiti Connection is involved with clean water projects as well as a loan/financing project for them to start up new businesses. In addition to these projects they also are involved in a sponsorship program. A child sponsorship is a mere $30 per year and the LeRoy UMC Sunday School program will be sponsoring four children. That means we will need to to collect $120 per year for several years to continue our sponsorship. Each class will get a packet with a childs picture and information soon.
